Fahrenheit 451

Five things that I learned that would be important to understand the novel is:

  1. Books are banned
  2. Firefighters start fire instead of putting them out
  3. they live in a dystopian society
  4. how television destroys interest in reading society
  5. focusing in the historical role of book burning in suppressing dissenting ideas

Theme for English B: 3

As I compared myself to the person in the poem "Theme for English B," I realized that I am truly not what others see me. I hide my true self as I walk into school. I keep myself in check before I walk into school so I won't affect anyone who does not deserve it. I keep myself cool because knowing me anything could happen. I tell myself that school is for learning and not to talk about the outer world. Anything from the outer world I don't affiliate with school. I am quiet and only speaking when I have something to say or when I need to speak up for myself. As strong as I tried to be, I also fear because anything can happen at any moment. My experience in school is not the same as the poem in "Theme for English B". I also come to realized that all people are different and trust can be given to those who are trustworthy. The character in the poem wants something better for him and for the instructor to understand where he is coming from and to be a part of him. He wishes to change a relationship and make it better. That is something similar that we share together. I wish to keep my knowledge from experience and make positive choices for the future so I can improve my relationships with people from the positive circle. Although I am different from them, I hope they get to know the real me and how I am. That is another similar thing that I share with that poem. Everyone may say I am quiet and I might be intimidating because they don't know me. They may also affiliate me with someone who they don't want in their circle, just like I don't trust anyone unless they are trustworthy. The only people who I trust is those who have proven it with their actions and not just speak empty words. I can also relate to the narrator's feelings because he is color and I am brown. Through out my childhood I have experience racism from different instructors from different school, just like he experienced racism from his instructor. These experiences has alter our courses and we both have chosen  to improve ourselves and grow up and be a better person from those who decide to be ignorant.

Spring Semester: Plan 1

I don't really know my plan for this semester. I make plans for the future but plans never work out the way you want them to. What I do is improvise. I find a way out and move on with my life. So my plan for this semester is to learn more about myself and to improve my knowledge. Also, I want to prove my family wrong by graduating high school. English class has been my hardest subject through out my history in school. So, I plan to to leave high school with a higher level of understanding of literature. These are the plans that invades my mind, and that I have written on paper, so I won't forget what I am aiming for.
