DERBY REPORTAGE
"Good Morning. Whaat? Oh yeah, Yes I lie, I didn't go to sleep, don't get all butt hurt about it hahaha JUST KIDDING PEOPLE. Why do I do this to my self? That's a good question, Well this is to teach myself a lesson. And that is to do my work when it is first given to me and not wait weeks later to begin it and then not turn it in. yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm very Irresponsible I get It. Anyways were getting off topic here so lets go back to the article".
"Oh yeah, hold on. Miguel if your reading this a couple of days, weeks, or years, or hours from now, I HOPE YOU LEARN YOUR LESSON YOU IRRESPONSIBLE FOOL. Alright lets move on now".
"Sooo anyways, I read the The Kentucky Derby is Decadent and Depraved article and first of all, I would like to say that I found a new hero. oh yeah, so long Dragonball Z. If you do not know what that is then I believe you had no youth my fellow ladies and gentleman's. So moving on, Thompson notice things I wouldn't have notice like a secret spy. Unlike Thompson, I'll be the guy screaming, RUN YOU (CURSE LANGUAGE) HORSE, BUNNY HOP THAT (BEEP), Hahaha anyways I wonder if this guy was the real 007, nooo that's just wishful thinking. So anyways, Hunter S. Thompson spits truth, yeah that's right, I said it. This dude Straight up Homies".
"Sooo, Thompson is accompanied by Ralph Steadman to do a report on the horse race, but (there's always a but right hahaha) from their perspective, they cannot view the race. Then Thompson and Steadman begin to notice the real news which was surrounding them".
"From the biggest to the smallest thing, they would notice it in the infield, the grandstand, and even in Thompson's hometown. Some things that they notice were like the drunk commentators and bizarre sexual activities, There's more. You want to know, read the article and find out hehehehe".
"This Event that Thompson wrote about and that Steadman sketch out sounded more like a out of control teenage party party in our present. It might be worse or the same, but it's my opinion. OK, now, before you start a tantrum, the word you should pay attention is to OPINION. Which basically means I could possibly be right or dead wrong. Moving on, during Thompson and Steadman work they got into the festivitie . The really got messed up, which makes me a bit jealous. In the end they notice that they became the characters they were describing in their article. Ok you know what? if you know someone who owns a time machine call me ASAP, I really need to go this party if you know what I mean hehehe (Wink)".
"Some lessons that were confirm to me were that society is Fudge up, no matter how perfect we think we are, we are animals. So, SO UNLEASH THE BEAST hahaha, Also, society will influence you and you will not, I repeat, you will not even notice until your part of it, yeah, check out I'll prove my point. I don't like to sagg my pants but I am not against it because I don't take part of it. Now, did you know that sagging originated in prison because inmates were not trusted with belts( Prisoners used to use their belts to hang other inmates or choke them to death). Here's the really messed up part, If you sagg your pants, it is because you are another inmate's female dog. That means they rape you whenever they want. That fashion eventually was realease to society and check it out,NOW CHECK IT, EVERYONE IS DOING IT. ITS CONSIDER A FASHION NOW. Don't forget it's my opinion and the opinion of those who actually been to prison."
"Well that is all people because my eyes are killing me. Tune in next time to hear me yap a little bit about Dr. Preston's assignments and a little bit about random stuff. Hasta luego, thats spanish for see you later."

"JOHNNY CYBERPUNK"
"This story is very interesting. I enjoy reading stories like this because it is basically a piece of reality in an imagination running wild".
Summery
To begin with this story occurs in the distant future. The main character is Johnny and he was hire by the Yakuza to store an important information on his head. He figures out that his life is in danger so he arranges an appointment Ralfi who was sent to retrieve the information. His cover is blown immediately and during the meeting he meets Molly Millions who he hires, and then she saves his neck. Yakuza blows up Ralfi and Johnny get save by distraction. Johnny and Molly then go and see Dolphin who is a junky. They seek him out to help them figure out the information . Then they go into hiding at Lo-Tek. They go to the killing floor where they are attacked again and molly saves the day.Johnny describes that he doesn't know if Yakuza accepted their terms or not and what he did to the piece of information. In the end Johnny, Molly, and Dog become business partners.
"Well, this is my definition why this story is postmodernism and cyberpunk. Feel free to critique me. I welcome positive and negative comments. Why? Because it helps me improve myself. Anyways Good mornig, I'm going to sleep".

In the end Johnny, Molly, and Dog become business partners.
- First, this story contains a lot Cyberpunk genre in it. For Example, Molly has glasses that are surgically implanted to her face and that the way she dresses is weird. Ralfi is like a robot and he is an asassin. Johnny can have information store into his head with out knowing what it is and it could be retrieve. Dolphin well he is like a mechanical dolphin from the navy. In this world others can hack your systems because that is how Ralfi die. He gets blown up. There is more but I think I missed them.
- Second I would like to explain why this story is post-modernism. Post-modernism is a critique of what we assume is truth. Here are some examples from the story. Although the story is taking place in the future with really advance technology, it still repeats the same patterns from the past. For example, there are still organised crimes that exist such as the Yakuza. Drug addicts still exist like Dolphin. People still hide to get away from problems or they try to face it like Johnny. And then, there is my favorite character who portrays one of my favorite quotes "Business is just Business". I apply this quote to my life and I`m very real, In fact I am here handling my business which is just business (which is homework that was due for Dr. Preston yesterday), and then there is this character, "Molly" who handles business which is just business ( which is rejecting Ralfi`s offer and accepting Johnny`s offer, also she didn't know them. they were complete strangers to her).
"Well, this is my definition why this story is postmodernism and cyberpunk. Feel free to critique me. I welcome positive and negative comments. Why? Because it helps me improve myself. Anyways Good mornig, I'm going to sleep".

MAPLAN
I don't know what to do for my modernist author project yet. The normal thing to do is just fallow the instructions and be boring but Dr. Preston don't like that so I have to let my creativity loose. A song would be good or a poster could be good too.

Joe College
Today's presentation was helpful to me in different ways. It made me realized that I can finish what I started a while back ago. I am not interested in any campuses yet. The college that I will go to is Hancock college because it is a cheap community college. I plan to study mechanical engineering because I like to fix things and tear them apart. My obstacles are to find a way to pay for the college.

MAP 1: Introducing Joseph Conrad
- it addresses the timeless struggle of man’s self-deception and inner conflicts, influenced by Conrad’s own sense of isolation from his past
- exploitation and barbarity between European and African societies during 19th Century colonial expansionism.
- Conrad was the only child born to Evelina Bobrowska (1832–1865) and Apollo Korzeniowski, (1820–1869) patriot, writer, and translator of such authors’ works as Victor Hugo’s and William Shakespeare’s
- four-year old Joseph and his parents were exiled to the province of Vologda in Northern Russia. The living conditions and harsh climate took their toll on Joseph’s parents: they both contracted tuberculosis, Evelina dying of it in 1865, Apollo in 1869. He was celebrated at his death by the Poles in patriotic honour.
- twelve Joseph became the ward of his maternal uncle Tadeusz Bobrowski (d.1894), a landowner who lived in Cracow, Poland. He was a great support to Joseph morally and financially for many years to come.
These are the facts that I chose because they are what influence Joseph Conrad to write his novels.

Applied Modernism Essay
The Great War, also known as World War I ravaged Europe through 1914 and 1918. This war was looked upon with horror and it left society wondering what the world would be in the future. This is a way of thinking that came to be call Modernism. Authors who adopted the modern point of view wrote deliberately and self-consciously. Therefore Modernism is with the inner self and consciousness. The novel Fahrenheit 451, written by Ray Bradbury is consider a modernism novel because it predicts the future.
This novel takes place in the future and it states that books are banned. Montag the main character lives in a world that is control by the government. Books are banned and firefighters start fire instead of putting them out. Also the country is in the middle of a war. This novel's main theme is censorship.
This novel predicts the future. People, like Mildred, Montag's wife spent most their time watching parlor television and listening to seashells like earphones that we have today. These people are almost all ignorant. Those who act out or rebel against the law are arrested and punished. For example, if an individual is found with books than they are arrested and their property is burned to the ground. Individuals who think outside the box and think how the world is are considered crazy. For example, Clarisse McClellan considers the world around her and for that she is an outcast of society.
In conclusion, Fahrenheit 451 is a modernism novel. It predicts the future and expresses destruction and decay. I expresses the main characters thought process or syntax. People break rules in society, there is mistrust, and brokenness with the government. Th is are evidence that makes it a modernism novel.
Applied Modernism
Fahrenheit 451 is a Modernism Novel because:
- about world/future/books -> destruction decay
- relevant
- Montag's Thought process/ syntax
- about breaking the rules
- mistrust/brokenness with the government

Modernism Writing
Five years ago, the way I express myself in my writing was very different from now. I would be writing anything and have no meaning to it. Back then I didn't know anything about symbolism, imagery, or any literary terms. The way the world change and how I view it change over time. I have more knowledge now then back then. Now I can just sit down and write and express my self the way I want my readers to understand me.

My Modernist
I declare to study Joseph Conrad.
Joseph Conrad created chilling tales with imagery and symbolism describing the uncertainty between good and evil. This really attracts my attention and now i'm curious to learn this authors way of thinking. He also examine man's moral complexities and capacity for corruption and evil, and the deep dark side of the human mind. I read a little bit about Conrad's struggle and it made me want to learn about him and to know why he writes about the uncertainty between good and evil.

Essay Post Game Analysis
I walk into class today not expecting that Dr. Preston would tell us to write an in class essay. As I sat down, I could not remember how to write an essay. So I did my best on it. I would give myself an F because I was not prepare and the essay that I have written was not my best. This is my lesson for today. I have to expect the unexpected. I will research "how to write an essay" on my free time and prepare myself for the upcoming essay. The only thing that I did good was remembering how the book ended.

TO MODERN OR POSTMODERN
Honestly I don't know what to make out of this quote. I'm more confused than ever. There were two parts of the quotes that made sense to me. 1 " There's some great essay somewhere that has a line about irony being the song of the prisoner who's come to love his cage…" this part is meaningful to me because I have come to love my problems and I deal with them instead of turning away from them. 2 "You burn with hunger for food that does not exist," this quote is meaningful to me because it reminds me of where I came from. In my opinion this quote can state that someone in poverty can wished to be rich but they never will be because it does not exist for them. This is just my example for quote number 2. This quote reminds me of a quote that I heard a long time ago when I didn't care for the world. The quote states " The rich person is richer when he becomes poor, than the poor person when he becomes rich"(Esperanza Rising). This basically means that we need to value what we already have and not what we want.

Fahrenheit 451
Five things that I learned that would be important to understand the novel is:
- Books are banned
- Firefighters start fire instead of putting them out
- they live in a dystopian society
- how television destroys interest in reading society
- focusing in the historical role of book burning in suppressing dissenting ideas

Theme for English B: 3
As I compared myself to the person in the poem "Theme for English B," I realized that I am truly not what others see me. I hide my true self as I walk into school. I keep myself in check before I walk into school so I won't affect anyone who does not deserve it. I keep myself cool because knowing me anything could happen. I tell myself that school is for learning and not to talk about the outer world. Anything from the outer world I don't affiliate with school. I am quiet and only speaking when I have something to say or when I need to speak up for myself. As strong as I tried to be, I also fear because anything can happen at any moment. My experience in school is not the same as the poem in "Theme for English B". I also come to realized that all people are different and trust can be given to those who are trustworthy. The character in the poem wants something better for him and for the instructor to understand where he is coming from and to be a part of him. He wishes to change a relationship and make it better. That is something similar that we share together. I wish to keep my knowledge from experience and make positive choices for the future so I can improve my relationships with people from the positive circle. Although I am different from them, I hope they get to know the real me and how I am. That is another similar thing that I share with that poem. Everyone may say I am quiet and I might be intimidating because they don't know me. They may also affiliate me with someone who they don't want in their circle, just like I don't trust anyone unless they are trustworthy. The only people who I trust is those who have proven it with their actions and not just speak empty words. I can also relate to the narrator's feelings because he is color and I am brown. Through out my childhood I have experience racism from different instructors from different school, just like he experienced racism from his instructor. These experiences has alter our courses and we both have chosen to improve ourselves and grow up and be a better person from those who decide to be ignorant.

Spring Semester: Plan 1
I don't really know my plan for this semester. I make plans for the future but plans never work out the way you want them to. What I do is improvise. I find a way out and move on with my life. So my plan for this semester is to learn more about myself and to improve my knowledge. Also, I want to prove my family wrong by graduating high school. English class has been my hardest subject through out my history in school. So, I plan to to leave high school with a higher level of understanding of literature. These are the plans that invades my mind, and that I have written on paper, so I won't forget what I am aiming for.
